A Library Beyond Books
The Barrington Library is more than just a building filled with books; it is a dynamic community hub that empowers learning, sparks creativity, and fosters connection. This ability to serve depends on the support of the Barrington community. When individuals come together to advocate for and contribute to our library, they ensure this space remains vibrant and resourceful for all.
“Friends of the Barrington Public Library”: Strengthening Community Through Giving
This collaboration is the essence of “That’s What Friends Are For,” where the Friends of the Barrington Public Library uses your donated books in supporting our library to expand services for our community and remain accessible to everyone, from young learners to lifelong readers. By supporting more than 88% of the Barrington Library's programs through fundraising and memberships, the Friends benefit this entire community’s well-being.
Programs That Enrich Lives
Each year, the Friends sponsors hundreds of programs for adults and children including:
Broad scope of Engaging classes
Museum passes
Inspiring lectures
Live concerts
Many other unique events
The Power of Donated Books
Much of this financial support comes from the sale of donated books at the Daily Book Sale and the Summer and Fall Big Book Sales. The circle of donated books, gratefully received and offered for sale supports our Library's programs, benefitting the whole community! The Daily Sale is located on the main floor of the Barrington Library. It is restocked every day with the best of new donations, and always at bargain prices!
How Your Purchase Makes a Difference
Purchasing books donated to the Friends of the Barrington Library offers a unique opportunity to support both personal enrichment and the community. These book sales feature a wide variety of genres at affordable prices, making it easy for readers to expand their collections while saving money. More importantly, the proceeds directly benefit the library, funding essential programs, services, and resources that might otherwise be unavailable. By buying these donated books, you ensure that the library continues to thrive as an essential educational and cultural hub. This simple act of purchasing a book becomes a meaningful way to give back and invest in the library’s mission to serve everyone.
